Medical Weight Loss
At Track Your Max, we measure so that we can improve. A transparent view into our patient’s metabolism, hormones, and biochemistry gives us the ability to hyper-personalize our medically supervised weight loss program to you!
Whats Sets Our Medical Weight Loss Program Apart?
Patients come to us often after having tried many things unsuccessfully – it is difficult without the right data and guidance to lose weight sustainably. Our program combines nutrition, medication and exercise with ongoing monitoring to help you succeed!
Step 1: Advanced Metabolism and Hormone Baselining
The first step to our hyper-personalized weight loss program is to gather a number of data points on your body.
This includes:
Resting Metabolism Rate (RMR) test:
- This allows us to know how many calories you are burning at rest – an important input into your nutrition and activity plan.
Body Composition Analysis:
- This will give us an inside look into your body fat % – this is the indicator we will be tracking on an ongoing basis as a better indicator of success beyond the weighing scale.
Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM):
- The physician will evaluate you and if indicated, we will put a CGM on you in office and then set up an appointment after 14 days. During these 14 days, you will be asked to maintain a food dairy – tracking what you are eating and when. This will allow us to understand what your body is able to metabolize well versus what is causing a blood sugar spike.
Hormone Testing:
- Thyroid test: This will rule out hormone imbalance as an underlying cause of weight gain that needs to be addressed through medication.
BIOCHEMISTRY TESTING:
- Cholesterol Test, Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, HbA1c Test: These tests will baseline your internal biomarkers at the beginning of the program as well as assess appropriateness for prescription medications.
Step 2: Detailed physician consult and planning
In this step, the physician will sit with you to go through all the metabolism and hormone baselining data with you and explain the results. If you were using a CGM for the last 14 days, the physician will also share the blood glucose trends data with you.
The physician will then create a personalized plan with you with three components:
Nutrition:
- Based on your RMR, activity level and CGM data, the physician will discuss practical steps with you on improving quality of your nutrition. This is NOT a diet – diets by their very nature are temporary and unsustainable. Instead, you will be provided with an easy-to-understand and practical framework to make healthier decisions.
Medications:
- If indicated, you will be prescribed weight loss medication to help you sustainably lose weight. The science of obesity medicine has advanced tremendously in the last decade as obesity has come to be recognized as a dangerous chronic disease. You will get the benefit of the full power of this scientific advancement as part of our medical weight loss program. Frequently used medications (if clinically indicated) include GLP-1 agonists such as semiglutide (Wegovy) or liraglutide (Saxenda), as well as other medications such as phentermine/topiramate (Qsymia)
Activity:
- Based on your current activity levels, your physician will provide you with specific next steps that can work well with your nutrition changes and medications
Step 3: Physician Follow-up
Once you are on the program, you will check in with your physician to see if any adjustments in medication is needed. This is done typically after 3 weeks but may differ based on medications prescribed.
Step 4: Ongoing Program Participation
You will follow a monthly cadence with the Track Your Max team to do monthly body composition analysis to track your progress. You will also have a consultation with your provider to make any adjustments to your plan and prescription medications based on the results you are seeing.
The frequency of your visits are personalized based on your results; we will need to see you more often to make adjustments if weight loss is not going according to plan.
