Frequently Asked Questions

Hormone testing can be used to diagnose hormonal imbalances that could be contributing to symptoms in an individual, through taking a blood sample for analysis.

Hormone testing can help assess any hormone abnormalities or imbalances and is used as part of treatment plan evaluations. Based on your symptoms and examination findings, hormone testing will assess for possible disruption in hormone levels that requires medical treatment.

Stay hydrated prior to visiting for hormone testing as this will make blood draw and urine collection much simpler. On occasions, testing might occur at specific time during the day or with fasted samples provided at a certain time of day – your provider will inform you to be prepared accordingly.

Hormone testing typically resembles blood or urine tests you may have had done previously. A technician will draw your blood sample and/or you will provide your urine sample; the sample will be labeled and sent for testing.

Following up after hormone testing typically occurs 5-14 days post collection and results. Following collection you should return to normal activities immediately afterwards.

Hormone testing typically falls under laboratory coverage similar to other forms of laboratory analysis; our billing department and/or your health insurer’s member benefits program can discuss costs. Please call our main number and ask to be transferred directly to our billing division if any questions arise;

Blood collection always poses some risk, including bruises or feeling faint; be sure to inform the phlebotomist if this has ever happened to you before or if any blood thinners have been prescribed prior to getting blood drawn for testing

In cases when tests conducted at our office are abnormal, additional diagnostic testing (sometimes conducted in hospital settings ) or imaging may also be necessary in order to fully evaluate hormonal abnormalities.

Men and women experience different biologies that necessitate separate test panels for them. Hormonal profiles, reproductive health needs and disease risks differ for each gender – for instance, while Thyroid hormone test is common for both men and women, we additionally have testosterone test for men and progesterone and estradiol tests for women.
